Our Story
Two Victorians with a passion for good food and wine, Lloyd & Sarah chased our dream and moved from inner-city Melbourne to Barossa Valley, an area that we fell in love with many years prior. The wines we make come from the fruit that we grow and are made in the style that we enjoy drinking.
Since squishing the first grapes in 2017 and officially launching our first wines in 2020, we’re excited with where we’re up to and where we’re going!

The Genista Clan
Lloyd Broom
Vigneron • Winemaker
In 2015, Lloyd made a bold move – buying, building, and relocating interstate with Sarah – and shifted careers from selling wine in retail to making it as a cellar hand. That first vintage, and every year since, has been a journey of excitement, challenge, and discovery, with each day bringing something new to learn. Lloyd’s passion for winemaking is unmistakable, and with a strong drive to keep growing, he’s excited to forge ahead with his own creations in the years to come.
Sarah Gregory
Marketing
When Lloyd first suggested buying a vineyard in the Barossa Valley, Sarah thought he was nuts! But what started as a crazy idea quickly became home – and now, she couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. For over 10 years, Sarah worked in EdTech marketing, until 2026, when that corporate chapter closed and Genista became her full-time focus. Now, she's bringing her marketing background to the business she and Lloyd have built together – from vintage to events and everything in between.
Ella
The OG
Ella is living her best retired life, snoozing from bed to chair to couch, and keeping watch over her kingdom vineyard.
Tabitha
VINEYARD Gymnast
In October 2020 we adopted Tabsy from the local Barossa Wildlife Rescue (BWR). She is cheeky, squeaky and love to climb those vines!
Ollie
Ginger ninja
In October 2024 we adopted Ollie, a shy ginger kitty found roaming in the Adelaide Hills. He is a chatty boy, and loves his sisters!
