Genista Wines
2023 recap
It’s been a massive year for Sarah and I, travelling the country, creating brand new wines and putting more into Genista than ever before.

As the calendar year of 2023 comes to a head, a lot of other “years” run concurrently around it.

The grape growing “year” of 2024 is well underway, with the first major growth milestone – flowering and fruit set – recently behind us. The forecast is for a hot and dry season, though you wouldn’t pick it from recent weather. More than a month’s worth of rain fell in one day last week with more forecast this week.

The wines run on their own extended calendar. The “year” of 2022 wines is nearly complete, with the 2022 Taking the Mickie Shiraz heading for the bottling line very soon.

Shortly after the (actual) New Year for 2024, Sarah and I are off to London in the hopes of finding someone with a funny accent in the UK or Europe who is keen on our wines. We will join a handful of other Barossan compatriots (Aussies in London? Who knew!) as we try to spread the good word and the good wine around at a trade exhibit.

Somewhere in there, we’ll put our feet up and toast to 2023. We’ve travelled to most corners of this beautiful land, pouring the wines and meeting lots of smiling faces. Thank you to those that came past the Genista stand – we’ll be back on the road for Good Food and Wine next year!

If you fancy toasting with a glass or two of Genista Wines this Festive Season, we suggest placing your order soon. Courier cut offs for regional Australia start this week, with metro areas coming up soon.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, we look forward to seeing you again soon!
