As we near the end of another year, we’ve paused to reflect (from the beautiful Hunter Valley).

2022 started with the cancellation of the biggest wine show in Adelaide, the Cellar Door Fest Summer Edit. Fortunately this would be our last COVID related delay, and we’ve been guns blazing ever since. In June we attended our first interstate event, the Sydney Good Food and Wine Show. Following on from that was the Adelaide Cellar Door Fest Winter Edit, the Adelaide Grenache Fest, the Brisbane Good Food and Wine Show and in just a weeks’ time, the Melbourne Good Food and Wine Show Christmas Market.

A big thank you to all the folks that came to see us at these shows, trying our wines and hearing our story. We look forward to doing it all again in 2023.

The show circuit followed our biggest vintage out in the vineyard to date. The growing season of 2021‍-2022‍ saw a second consecutive year of mild conditions with ample rainfall. The vines have bounced back from the drought years of ’18, ’19 and ’20 and are full of vigour.

Every vintage brings a new set of challenges and 2022 was no different, with favourable environmental conditions but industry optimism at a low point. We always try to find the silver lining, and now aim to add a new wine to our range next year when the ’22 wines have finished their time in oak.

The growing season for 2022‍-2023‍ is underway – at last! Our latest budburst on record has been followed by consistently cool and wet conditions, and is setting the vineyard up for another bountiful albeit very late harvest. We’re only weeks away from summer, and our soil moisture level is higher than Lloyd’s ever seen it, even during winter.

With Christmas fast approaching, we encourage you to place online orders early to avoid shipping delays or hot weather (perhaps wet weather will be the biggest problem this year).

If you’re in Melbourne, consider coming to see us in person at the GF&W Christmas Market, where we will have special gift packs available. Details and links are below.

Whatever you’re doing this Festive Season we hope you have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
